Christmas Massacre is a 2021 slasher horror game developed by Puppet Combo. The game is available for download on Puppet Combo's Patreon page,[1] and released on Steam on December 17, 2021.
On November 17th, 2023, the game was released on Playstation consoles[2]. On December 8th, 2023, the game was released on Xbox Consoles[3].
Synopsis[]
Larry's Christmas tree has been telling him to kill. But who's side is the tree really on? And can he trust what he's hearing?
Characters[]
- Larry - A mute serial killer and the main anti-hero protagonist of Christmas Massacre.
- Gino (voice actor uncredited) - The deuteragonist of Christmas Massacre and a talking tree who demands Larry to kill the people for their "naughtiness".
- The Nun - The head nun of the Catholic boarding school and the main antagonist of Christmas Massacre.
- Larry's Mother - The unnamed mother of Larry.
- Larry's Victims - A group of many unnamed residents and Larry's main targets.
- Officer J. Fiene - A police officer who arrests Larry[4].
Plot[]
December 25th, 1959[]
The game starts in the catholic school with a nun telling Larry that he's not allowed to come to the Christmas party for reasons unspecified. Larry, however, makes his way down to the lobby where other kids are partying. Larry sneaks into the kitchen, grabs the kitchen knife, wounds the nun and starts slaughtering everyone.
Present Day[]
20 years later on December 23rd, 1979, Larry is living in his house. He is told by a Christmas tree that a lot of people are naughty this year and that he must punish them. Larry dresses up in a Santa outfit and drives in his van to the specific house where he murders all household members. Larry then returns home and is praised by the tree who also tells him that his work is not done and that more people must die.
Christmas Eve[]
Larry drives to a grocery store where he murders all workers and staff members. Larry then returns home and is told by the tree that it caught some teenager while he was gone and that he should kill the teen, and Larry does so without hesitation.
Christmas Day[]
Larry drives to a house where he murders a bunch of partygoers. He then returns home and is told by the tree that he can kill people by throwing knives at them. Larry then drives to town, enters one building and murders whole bunch of people. Larry returns home only to find it dark and empty, his tree gone, a stove acting weird, and a corpse sitting in a wheelchair appearing before vanishing. Larry goes to bed.
New Years Eve[]
Larry drives to town, enters a movie theater and murders whole bunch of people. Larry then returns home where he starts having hallucinations, such as a corpse from the night before repeating his name and telling him that he will burn in hell, whole room burning, and large set of chattering teeth blocking the stairs. Larry goes to bed and has a dream where he is in the mortuary killing naked people and running down the endless corridors. Larry wakes up and is approached by his tree who tells him that it must tell him something, but first he must return to his old school and burn it to the ground.
New Years Day[]
Larry returns to his old catholic school with a flamethrower and starts killing everyone and burning the whole place down. He encounters the Nun in a wheelchair (the same nun who told him he could not attend the Christmas party) who insults him and tells him that he will burn in hell for all of this, and Larry kills her before leaving the school. Larry returns home where he is ambushed by the police. His tree apologizes to him and tells him that it had to cooperate with the FBI because it didn't want to go to jail. The text below is displayed afterwards:
"Larry was convicted of 36 counts of first-degree murder."
December 24th, 1985[]
5 years later in a mental hospital, Larry hides in a closet while everyone prepares to go to bed. When the nurse comes looking for him, Larry emerges from the closet, kills her and then starts slaughtering everyone. After killing everyone in the building, Larry reaches the exit and escapes the hospital. The game ends.
Gameplay[]
Larry attacking a household member
The game plays the same as Blood Maniac and Texas Butcher with players taking control of Larry going to specific locations and murdering people. Strategy mostly consists of hiding, moving from room to room, sneaking behind NPCs and killing them. By staying in dark, players cannot be seen. Players can switch from first person to third person perspective. If the NPCs spot Larry, they will start running towards the exit and a timer will appear (timer can depend on how far the NPC is from the exit). If players manage to stop the NPC from escaping the timer will stop. If the NPC reaches the exit it will result in game over, and the players will have to restart the whole level. Switching off lights will bring the attention of NPCs. If NPCs spot a corpse, they will try to escape. Throughout the game players are given only a kitchen knife. On the fourth day players are able to throw knives at NPCs. On the last day players acquire a flamethrower that they use to burn the school down, but they also need to be careful when using it because they can catch fire. Players can also find costumes at specific locations. Players can also find dolls all over the game, there are 8 in total. Once all 8 dolls have been collected, a doll mode will be unlocked. By activating doll mode, Larry will become very small, the size of a figure.
On February 12th, 2022, the game received a final update where tutorial was added, alongside level/weapon selection, and easy mode.[5]

- Larry's House: Inside the room right next to Larry's bedroom (The day may vary).
- Festivus: On the first room to the left on the 2nd floor.
- Christmas Eve: At the end of one of the coolers right at the start of the store level.
- Brothel: Going right from where Larry spawns then turning right at the first corner, then left, then left again, then right, and lastly, right through the first door to the left in front of you.
- Later at the concert. Going through the less visible door behind the audience in the concert leads through a path to the backstage, the doll is located in a gap to the right.
- New Years Eve: In the last of one of the bathroom stalls near the main entrance
- Dream: Hidden on a corridor inside the large room right before the classroom.
Trivia[]
- Christmas Massacre is a separate game from Blood Maniac that features the same character but isn't canon.
- The game was inspired by Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2, and Christmas Evil.[citation needed]
- The soundtrack was composed by MXXN and Clément Panchout.
- The catholic school is the same reused school model from Nun Massacre.
- The Nun shares the same model as the Nun killer from Nun Massacre.
- The video on the TVs at specific locations in the game is "TV host gets bombarded by prank calls".
- This is the second Puppet Combo game that was released on Steam, the first one being Murder House.
- Microsoft and Nintendo didn't approve of the Christmas Massacre, and as a result, the game was released only on PlayStation consoles[6][7]. A month later the game was eventually released on Xbox consoles using a creator's program, just without achievements.
- The chances of the game being released on Nintendo Switch are zero[8].
