This big bastard... He's the only thing that's inconsistent. Showing up wherever he wants. Is he the one behind this...? Is he another prisoner? I don't think it matters. He's a buzz-saw. A nailgun. A platform. He's another obstacle.
A "contestant"'s thoughts on the Maniac

The Chainsaw Killer, also referred to as the Maniac and possible real name Jedd,[1] is the main antagonist in Buzz-Saw Blood House.

Description[]

Appearance[]

The Chainsaw Killer is a towering adult Caucasian male of unspecified age. He has short brown hair and wears an orange jumpsuit, black gloves, brown shoes, and a worn, white hockey mask. He uses a chainsaw to kill. Due to his enormous height and his victims' typically short stature, he frequently slouches.

History[]

Absolutely nothing is known of this man's background, besides that he acts as an executioner for a hidden, erotophonophilic dark web community known as Buzz-Saw Blood House, which hosts Red Room events via lifestream, where teenaged schoolgirls, acquired through kidnapping operations, are placed in twisted, funhouse-themed game shows of sorts within in the confines of the physical "Buzz-Saw Blood House" in an unknown location. Members follow the action through surveillance cameras as the captives attempt to survive various traps and the star of the "attraction", the Chainsaw Killer himself.

One of the entries scattered around the rooms briefly speculates about the identity of the Chainsaw Killer. As far as anyone knows, the Maniac could be the webmaster of the site himself or just another prisoner, forced to obey instructions of his captors, though due to his mute nature, he remains an engima and ultimately only fulfills his role in hunting down the unwilling contestants. It's also evident that not all the victims are neccessarily doomed to die, as many of the messages are apparently written by people who have been through more than one "round" and seen other rooms, but no one appears to have ever been able to successfully make it out of the structure.

Buzz-Saw Blood House[]

On Halloween Eve, 1997, the Chainsaw Killer is dispatched to one of the community's 13 Red Room locations to serve as a roaming danger for their already tortured captives.

Version 0.1.5[]

The Chainsaw Killer is makes two appearances during the escape of an unnamed teenager. He is first encountered shortly after the girl enters the maze section, appearing randomly when she rounds a corner and will chase after her until enough distance has been build between the two. He will then appear in the final room, as the girl reaches the exit. Once she passes through the last trap, the exit elevator will unlock, at which point the Chainsaw Killer will drop to his knees and become inactive.

Version 2.0[]

The Chainsaw Killer is the star attraction during a "live show" featuring a party of Ashland High School students, abducted on their shared way home when a van pulled up to them and a hooded man forced the girls into the vehicle. Starting with Rachel, the parade of girls try, in tragic futility to survive the death game by outmaneuvering the multitude of pitfalls of Room 7 and the recurring threat posed by the Maniac whenever he appears during scripted "MANIAC ATTACK!!!" segments. During a final showdown for a "private show", one girl manages to flee through a doorway, never to be seen again.

Trivia[]

  • The Chainsaw Killer embodies the stereotypical "crazed masked killer" trope (physically imposing, hockey mask, chainsaw), which in on itself is a concept loosely based on the appearance of Jason Voorhees.
  • The Chainsaw Killer is unique in that he, unlike other Puppet Combo killers, who sprint at the sight of the players, walks towards his targets at a slow pace, as he's not in hurry, allowing them to easily outrun him most of the time. Seeing as how there is no way to beat the game, i.e. escape the red room, the killer does this simply to prolong their anguish and to maximize his victims' fear before their inevitable demise. Gameplaywise, this was done to avoid an unnecessary spike in difficulty for the already challenging control and navigation.
  • The Chainsaw Killer is absent in Version 3.0 and the "Fast Food World" build.
  • A tweet by Puppet Combo indicates that the Chainsaw Killer's name may be Jedd. This could be a vague reference to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre's Leatherface, specifically the 2017 reboot, in which the titular killer's real name is given as Jedidiah "Jed" Sawyer.
